Billiard Balls
Billiard balls are essential to all variations of the
game of billiards. Whether your game is 8-ball, 9-ball, or just straight
pool, without the balls, there is no game. While most ball collections
are of the standard stripes/solids variety, custom and decorative balls
are also available.
Regulation billiard balls are 2 ¼ inches in diameter and weight
approximately six ounces a piece. The number of balls used depends on
the particular game being played. Games like 8-ball and 9-ball obviously
use 8 and 9 balls respectively; however, a game of regular pool uses
a total of 15 balls, plus the cue ball.
The price of a set of billiard balls can vary wildly. For most residential
and pub applications, an adequate set can be as little as 30-40 dollars.
However, high-end collections can often sell for hundreds of dollars.
